Beaches
Goa is India's most popular vacation spot, featuring everything from fancy hotels to homemade huts. Still, its success has arrived at the cost of overdevelopment, westernisation, and occasionally boisterous party life.
However, India's beach culture is more than trance parties and westernised communities. Luckily, there are still several coastal sites in India comparable to Goa, that do not suffer from the adverse effects of mass tourism. The following Goa alternatives include wellness and water sports, temples and serenity, and a healthy foundation in native community and culture.
Varkala
The first stop is Varkala, a virtually unknown coastal town. Varkala, hidden away in the south Indian state of Kerala, is appropriately referred to as "The Pearl of the Arabian Sea". While areas like Munnar, Alleppey, Kovalam, and Kochi attract much attention, Varkala has continued to preserve a distinct atmosphere that many of us yearn for. This is the same mood that drew Russians to Goa, Israelis to Kasol, and a slew of others to Rishikesh, but as millions of tourists swarm to those well-known vacation spots, they've lost their allure. Varkala, on the other hand, is still in its infancy. Varkala is a location to unwind in a beach environment with the breeze rushing through your hair while munching on traditional French and Italian delicacies. How frequently do you come to a meeting of backwaters and ocean? You'll find it on Varkala's Kappil Beach.
Gokarna
Gokarna, a lesser-known beach location, allows you to live a double life. In the morning, visit gorgeous Hindu temples before watching a stunning sunset on tranquil beaches. Gokarna is the ideal location for a memorable holiday with a group of your best friends amid nature. It is remote, calm, mystical, and most importantly, it offers inexpensive lodging. What more could you ask for, right?
Puducherry
Puducherry is a beautiful beach location where you can stroll through exquisite French cafes, relax on beautiful beaches, and visit peaceful ashrams. If you want to ring in the New Year in style, a trip to Puducherry is undoubtedly the best option. At a quaint French Cafe overlooking the ocean, have delectable French onion soup while sipping Chardonnay. After your mini-flight to France, take a stroll to the serene Aurobindo Yoga Ashram to get a start on your New Year's resolutions.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands
If sun, sand, and lots of sun are on your wishlist, why go to Goa when you can go to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands instead? Radhanagar beach, one of Asia's most extraordinary, is located here. So unwind on tranquil beaches, browse for charming trinkets, indulge yourself at luxurious resorts, and feed yourself on delectable cuisine. This is a spot that should be on your bucket list.
Mangalore's Ullal Beach
Ullal Beach is one of Mangalore's most incredible beaches for beach vacations in India. It is a fishing community on the Netravali river's southern bank and there aren't many people on the beach. Apart from the other beaches in Mangalore, it gives tourists, who renew their spirits a tranquil vibe. Ullal Beach is India's ideal beach escape, thanks to its coconut trees, gorgeous beaches, calm environment, and lack of crowds.
Churches and cathedrals can also be found among the gorgeous scenery. There are several cabins to choose from, for a pleasant and relaxing beach vacation. Ullal Beach is one of India's top swimming beaches, and it also offers a variety of exhilarating water sports activities.
Odisha's Puri Beach
Puri Beach, one of Orissa's most popular tourist destinations, is a sacred site for an endless stream of devotees who come to pay devotion to Lord Jagannath. This lovely palm-fringed beach is located on great white sands and receives water from the Bay of Bengal, making it a popular destination for Indian and foreign beachgoers. The beach at Puri is 35 kilometres from the Sun Temple and 65 kilometres from Bhubaneswar. Visitors can witness a fishing town along the coast and eat seafood made with abundant catch such as prawns, crabs, and other fish.
Malpe, Karnataka
The picturesque Malpe beach, 6 kilometres from Udupi, is another of India's famous beaches. In Karnataka, it is a significant fishing harbor. It has everything to give tourists who want to rest their souls and bodies. The picturesque seascape, breathtaking sunset vistas, golden sands, and waving palm trees will thrill you. A must-visit area near Malpe beach is St. Mary's Island, a lovely vacation destination. It is a beach lover's paradise. The best time to travel to this place is between October and December.
