My Top Picks For Solo International Travel For Women

I was bitten by the travel bug and haven't stopped travelling since then. Travel with friends and partners is always fun but solo travel is a life experience. I have travelled to many places and in some I felt insecure and unsafe and in some I felt safe and free. Travel can set you free, expand your horizons and make you a student of global culture, but it can also make you feel unsafe and terrified if you’re not in the right place. Here is my list of some of my favourite destinations for women to travel to.
Top of my list is Cambodia. This small, Southeast Asian country makes all women travellers feel like a fish in the pond. Its a feeling of being at a place where you belong. Although many countries in the Asia do not enjoy a great reputation as far as safety for women is concerned; Cambodia insures a safe travelling environment for women. It is a culturally rich country, which also offers great adventure. Another thing that adds cherry on top is the low cost of travel. Public transport is safe and you don’t have to pay through your nose for a luxury hotel to feel safe. There are many budget hotels and establishments that offer comfortable and safe places to stay.

My second choice is Barcelona in Spain. This popular destination in Spain is high on the tourist wish list as it is a city you can explore on foot and does not require expensive transport.  With high influx of tourists all year round streets of Barcelona and never desolate. You will always find someone to give you company in order to make you feel safe. Compared to many of the European cities, Barcelona is affordable. Sitting alone at a restaurant and bar and enjoying your Tapas all alone is not frowned upon.

Third on my list is Stockholm in Sweden. This city thrives on a network of islands connected by bridges. It’s a modern, safe and exciting city. It’s safe to beat down the cobblestone streets of stockholm's old town in your heels all year long. The city that made afternoon coffee and cake breaks called fika fashionable is also home to many museums and art installations even on the streets. This city gives an immersive experience for solo women travellers.
So pack up your bags and go ahead and enjoy your winter travel in these places....although a word of advice...head to Stockholm in the summer month to truly enjoy the city.
