Here are some tips from our side for you amazing travelers out there so that we can help you in ensuring your safety.
India has certain places like every other country which have higher crime rates. When you visit such places, keep an eye on your surroundings all the time and do not give the details about where you are staying or even your real name to other fellow travelers or locals. Keep checking what is happening around you. However, Indians are very generous to foreign travelers especially women. If you think you are in trouble then do not be afraid to ask for help. While you are traveling in public transport in public you might experience things like body-brushing. Do not stay quiet. Raise your voice and let the criminal get punished. The key to your safety is by being confident
First of all, book your accommodation in advance. There are so many hostels for backpackers across the country which are very economical as well as you will get to meet several other travelers. If you are thinking of traveling in India as a solo women traveler then you should be familiar with the basic Indian language, that is, Hindi. Hindi is used in many parts of India so learning the common Hindi phrases will help you a lot during your trip to India. It will also help charm the locals. Though you should always research the language used commonly in the place where you are going. Then learn a few common phrases in that language and you are all set to go.
If you are traveling solo then safety becomes your major concern. That is why emergency numbers should be there with you. Here are some emergency numbers you should keep with yourself during your trip.
You can also find the numbers online for a particular state. Just do your research from trustable sources.
While traveling solo, you will meet so many other travelers. They might even get friendly with you but that doesn’t mean you will share everything about yourself with them. Do not give them any personal details like your name, phone number, email, or the address of the place where you are staying. As a woman, you already know that your actions can be misinterpreted for something wrong. So be careful of what you are sharing and doing. You will meet a lot of strangers on your trips so it’s better you connect with them for sharing traveling experiences only. Things can go wrong when you give your personal details so stay careful.
Being a solo women traveler, you will come across various creeps along your way. Keep a big NO in your pocket while traveling and whenever you feel a certain person or situation is making you feel uncomfortable then it is time for you to get that NO out of your pocket. If someone offers you a ride even if you don’t want to then clearly say NO. If they don’t agree then call the locals for help.
